Well I suppose I should elaborate a bit on my trip to the nations capitol, seeing as it was one of the funnest trips I've ever been on. It was with a group from school as most of you know, and we did pretty much everything that can be done and then some. For example...
1. Stayed in a nice hotel that towered just across the Potomac which provided the most beautiful view of the National Mall from our bedroom window and not to mention a stones throw away from the Pentagon. Pretty neat.
2. Visited the Jefferson, FDR, Lincoln, Vietnam, Iwo Gima, Korean, WWII, & Washington Monuments/memorials. We even got to go back to the Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, and Washington Memorials at night which was just plain amazing. Visited the White House twice aswell. Suprisingly not as big as I imagined, but like it that way for some reason. Also drove up the street where all the embassies are and where the VP's house is. Saw some protesters who came up to me and told me that I was the future of this country and that I should do something about it because the country that is going to be handed to me and my children is evil.
3. Visited the National Archives where I was privileged to see the Manga Carta, Declaration, Bill of Rights, and Constitution. Probably one of my most favorite parts of the trip.
4. Road the Metros almost everyday. Why can't Phoenix have those? They were the greatest. So efficient and reliable. Ate at Froggy Bottem Pub which was the coolest little place close to Georgetown. GEORGETOWN is incredible. Saw the University and it was so grand looking.
5. Went inside the Supreme Court buildings basement and also got to sit in on an actuall court case that was going on. Very cool. Those guys are pretty intense.
6. Visited the Library of Congress which had to be one of the most beautiful buildings, inside and out, that I saw on the trip. Possibly even my favorite?
7. Sat and visited in the offices John McCain and Jeff Flake. McCain needs to recarpet his office for sure.
8. Walked through under street tunnels to Tour the Capitol Building and received my life's biggest toe cramp just as I entered into the dome, the most amazing ceiling/art/space I've ever seen.
9. Visited Arlington Cemetery where I got to see JFK and Robert Kennedy's grave sites as well as the changing of the guards of the tomb of the unknown soldier.
10. Holocaust Museum, Air and Space Museum, American History display, Newseum, Natural History Museum. Dulles Airport for 6 hours straight.

Last night I had the pleasure of watching one of my favorite slient movies at my flaming red-headed friend Daniel Wesleys house in the comfort of his empty swimming pool. It was an enjoyable time spent under the cool nights sky with blankets at my feet, friends at my side, and a 5 foot glowing image of Buster Keaton starring at me from the large white screen that was the wall on the opposite end of the pool.
After the evening had abated, I enquired of my friends about the possibility that 'Theatre-Pits' could be the next big thing in domestic entertainment. I believe, after having experienced it myself, that it could and should be pursued as such.

civil war guy who looks like Conan O'brien

Marshall Twitchell was a soldier in the Civil War and later served for the freedman's bureau in Louisiana. Twitchell was born in Vermont in 1840, and lived there until he enlisted in the Union Army. Most importantly however, is the fact that he bears a striking resemblance to Late Night talk show host Conan O'brien.

weekend romp

I just got back from a nice weekend with the the Laurels in my ward in which we spent Friday evening and the most of Saturday at one of the leaders cabin. It was a good time in the company of good people. I especially enjoyed Aubrey and I's heated discussions on current goings-on in the political world that lasted for the entire duration of the ride up.

Well today I received all the exciting information regarding my upcoming trip to Washington D.C. Can't wait! What is really fun is our departing flight leaves at 12:05 AM, so I will (hopefully) be sleeping for most of the flight. I actually like staying up late and I also love flying so I think it's going to be really nice. We arrive there at the Dulles International Airport at 7:16 am. Staying at the Doubletree Hotel National Airport which I hear is a pretty good place. Then onto a jam-packed week of lectures, debates, tours, workshops, seminars, handshakes and picture taking! I'm planning on taking many photographs and video.
[let's hope I won't be rooming with any liberal participants] :D
