an idea resuscitated

Well a few months ago, I started with a project some of you may have already heard about. I've always had the desire to own a place/shop/store/whathaveyou, and so began the initial preparation for such. I painted/wallpapered the upstairs cavity of space at my fathers furniture store with the hope that it may someday become just that place I've always wanted. Well, plans to move away had stalled production. However, the latest coming out of the news room is that I will not be moving straight away after graduation. This is good news for my place/shop/store idea. I'm wanting to get started on it again here soon, so let's hope things work out.

the newcomers

As most of you probably know, Adell and Logan have moved into our home and plan on living here for the duration of the summer. Logan will then be attending ASU so we are all pretty happy that they will be in Arizona for good. Now, let me share with you a few interesting things about this wonderful Adell. Almost everything that comes out of her mouth is groundbrakingly genius...I don't even know how I am related to her. She should be in a museum somewhere in a glass case with lights and lasers and men with guns. She is really that incredible. Allow me to give a few examples...
1. "Yeah, those idiots think it's because of Global Warning" ...
2. "Did you buy that shirt (my shirt of the presidents), so people would look at your chest?"
3. "Do you feel stupid because you're the only one who bought pop?"
4. "Shut-up doofus"
5. "Yeah right, doofus"
6. "You're a doofus"
7. "It's anonymous, everyone wants to go!"
UPDATE:::
8. "Look, there's an AMBLEANCE up there.."

the couch

So I went to Arizona Thrift the other day to take a gander at an old piano I heard was sitting around there only to come across this beauty. 6 feet 1960's mint condition and only 50$. So yes, I decided to buy it and am quite happy about the purchase. I only hope one day I can see it grace the family room of whatever type of shelter I will be dwelling in.

chubbers on wheels

Well it has seemed to all of us here in the Carling family that our very own Harvey McKay Carling, at the ripe age of 1 1/2, has finally found his trait. No, I'm not talking about his ability to consume inhuman amounts of chocolate cake without even batting an eye.....or even his fantastic talent in making this face here.....but that he has in fact recently taken up one of his own fathers hobbies. That of skateboarding. Yes, ladies & gentleman, it's...

name names

I was thinking today about when people say, "And you know who you are". Not so much of the literal knowledge of what your name is and who you come from, but when things are said like, "I would really appreciate it if a few of you, and you know who you are, would please pay more attention." What if they, who you are talking about, truly thought you were talking about someone else who was suppose to know it was them who you were truly talking about when you really were talking about the few people who thought you were talking about the other people who you may or may not have been truly talking about and those who you weren't talking about at all could think it was them who you were truly talking about, thus enforcing false guilt upon the people or person who you really weren't talking about? So I've come to the conclusion that when you use the phrase "And you know who you are", you run a real risk of talking about no one, or else those who you didn't think would think it was them you were talking about but accidentally assumed you were talking about them because you used the phrase that so allows these questions. Why not just mention names? Is that too much to ask? ie. Today I witnessed such a situation when name listing really could have come in handy. "I would like to thank all my leaders who have helped me so much, AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE." After hearing this, my mind could think only of all the leaders of this person sitting in the congregation wondering to themselves, "Is she talking about me? I've helped her haven't I? That one time? No? Oh, she doesn't like me..I can tell, because I didn't help her so much." The only thing is all of her leaders could be thinking this same thing when all the girl wanted to do is thank her leaders. In conclusion, when at all possible, avoid the said phrase and name names. It's just better for everyone.
That is all.

1924

A favorite of mine. It's about a young wealthy heir named Rollo Treadway ["A proof that every family tree must have it's sap"-from the movie] who decides to marry his sweetheart Betsy and sail to Honolulu, but when she rejects him he decides to go alone. However, in a series of fantastic but logical plot convolutions, he boards the wrong ship, the "Navigator", an abandon passenger ship owned by Betsy's father. Unaware of this, Betsy boards the ship to look for her father, but spies have already captured him before cutting the ship loose. It drifts out to sea with the two helpless socialites, each unaware of there being anyone else on board. Once discovering one another, the pampered cast-aways must learn the hard way how to to provide for themselves. A hilarious movie full of Buster Keaton's witty and creative comedic talent. Anyway, it's available for viewing on youtube, so you'll be wanting to do that sometime when you have an hour to kill.

ventilation

“Never has a gap between two generations been so wide and so dangerous.” This remark was said about the 1960’s and it’s severance from common customs and ideas of the 50’s. I believe this can almost be said about American culture today. What we have been witnessing in the American culture almost throughout the past decade is its generous leap from our previous generation. This popular culture that the youth and America as a whole are enveloping today, I believe for the most part is good. What I have seen happen that I must roll my eyes at however, is an enormous resurrection in the musical genres of rap and hip hop. Must we live in a world where innocent civilians are forced to hear the word 'baller' being said every five seconds? Oh wait...thats just me being forced to do so in my 4th hour everyday by the incomprehensible delinquents that are students attending Mounting View . Why people think these addicting undertones and fancy electronic vibrations are nothing short of genius, I will never know. But what I do know is that the degrading and just plain dim-witted lyrics that roll and tumble throughout it all are embarrassingly unworthy of the word ‘poetry’. And if I have to see one more gangly white girl tip her trucker hat to the side, throw out some gangster sign, and bite onto her icey neck-bling...I'm going to hurl.
That is all.

old tile display = new record display

Salvaged these from my brothers flooring store. I have more single displays like the second picture if anyone is interested in one. I think they are pretty neat looking.

Little Addie!

Had a good time over at Aaron and Lisa's Saturday. Got to hold Addie for a while!
